Community Report - Week 63

Published: 20.10.2024

This week I was able to spend a bit more time developing the new version of the Community, so you can see some intermediate results in our Discord community (https://discord.gg/neejaHuAR4) - links to the posts:

For those who don't use Discord, I'll summarize the current progress: the main work was done on the administrative part, namely: language change, account edit page, browser sessions, entities: users, roles, developers, as well as on the appearance of tables with data (new filter system and possibility to switch visibility of additional columns).

Statistics. This week we had 13 new users join us and 18 new apps were added. We were able to complete a total of 194 tasks, of which 164 were Installation tasks.

Congratulations. I would like to congratulate users: Walo de Cole, Boluwaji Akinsefunmi for getting the first achievement "+10 Installations" for promoting their own apps on Google Play and App Store. I would also like to congratulate users: Éric Binger, McTUR Games for getting the achievement "+50 Installations". Special congratulations to user "Alexander Freyer" for getting the "+100 Installations" achievement. Your Boosters have been activated, and I'm happy for each of you that the Community has helped you get one step closer to success. And for those of you who have not yet received the achievement, I would like to wish you good luck and remind you that the number of Installations and Reviews your app can get depends on you and your activity - do other users' tasks, increase the number of rewards to make your task more attractive, and make sure that you don't expire the "Promotion Period".

Development of the new version. The next step will be to create an invitation and user registration system, and I also want to create a separate panel for users to isolate the admin from users on separate modules. Now everything works according to the classic scheme: roles and permissions, and each participant sees and does what he is allowed. But this approach has its disadvantages, such as low performance, excessive traffic, and a complicated template engine, because any user action, starting from the moment of page opening, constantly generates additional traffic (requests to the server) to find out what a particular user can see and what not, whether this action is allowed or not, etc. Sometimes it feels like problem-solving in programming is a kind of art of balance. On one side of the scale, there's writing additional code, which can make the system more flexible and adaptive. On the other, the pursuit of simplified optimization, which allows for saving time and resources. My current task is to find the golden mean, where innovation and efficiency go hand in hand, creating elegant and practical IT solutions for the new version of Community.

Wish me luck, as this is just the beginning))
